vocal massage therapy
SpeakEasy
SpeakEasy is a London-based practice, offering affordable and quality vocal massage therapy for singers, actors, and other professional voice-users as well as those suffering from a variety of common voice issues.
What is Vocal Massage?
Our voices are profoundly personal. They’re vital tools and vulnerable expressions of self. It’s no surprise therefore that when the body in under stress, it often manifests in the voice as a variety of issues.
The human voice is produced by a complex interaction of muscles across the abdomen, chest, head and neck. Just as a body that’s working hard benefits from sports massage to alleviate tension and discomfort, so vocal massage can be enormously beneficial for those experiencing vocal problems or fatigue. It can be used to accutely address a specific issue, or integrated into a routine to promote good vocal health. In this specialised treatment, we work with all of the muscles involved in the production of the voice through a combination of muscle manipulation, massage and myofascial release.
Conditions it can help with include:
-
Muscle Tension Dysphonia (hoarseness and recurring voice loss)
-
Vocal fatigue
-
Globus Pharyngeus (the feeling of a lump in the throat)
-
Difficulty Swallowing
-
TMJD, including jaw clicking and bruxism (tooth grinding)
-
Tongue root tension
-
Neck and shoulder aches
-
Vocal range and release
While some practitioners work from a ‘no pain no gain’ premise,
it’s our firm belief at SpeakEasy that vocal massage needn’t be
painful or unpleasant in order to be impactful. With precision and
